Reflecting on Environmental Careers with Literacy for Environmental Justice

CDIM Principal Scott Bourne participated on an environmental career panel for Literacy for Environmental Justice this past Saturday morning. The panel was a chance to reflect on his own path into the field and to hear from young people thinking about where they want to take their careers.

LEJ has worked in Southeast San Francisco since 1998, focused on the Bayview-Hunters Point community — a part of the city that carries a disproportionate share of the region's industrial legacy and hazardous waste sites. Through paid youth internships, environmental education, native plant nurseries, and habitat restoration at Candlestick Point and Heron's Head, LEJ builds both healthier neighborhoods and a pipeline of young leaders into environmental careers. CDIM is glad to support that mission and looks forward to continuing to engage with LEJ and the students they serve."
